embarking on a cosmic voyage.

~the8thworld

I had writers block for over a month. I just couldn’t find inspiration in anything, nothing I wrote felt good. And for so long I had been enjoying writing in this cool style of short fiction with detailed environments.

Enter my fixation on and discovery of the smolnet. I quickly found a community of writers at cosmic.voyage both on gemini and on https. a shared, open ended sci-fi universe? sign me up! this intersects so many of my interests. I applied and in a few days I was accepted. then I had to figure out how to use ssh in a windows command line. this was a fun process, having to figure out what the fuck was stopping me from actually connecting (it was the windows firewall) and then sorta having to blunder my way through navigating a linux server using ssh which turned out to have SO MANY layers to it. a whole mail client and a interactive menu and games and text editors? wild! then I had to figure out how to actually create files and cd around (I was trying to find the folders it said it created *on my own machine lmao* instead of on the linux server) and then I could finally post my writing. I spent a whole day worldbuilding and it was some of the most fun I’d had since I wrote D&D campaigns.

anyway, here's the link! :D

I’ll be writing more soon.

it's creative commons because I hate copyright.

also, I promised music every post so lets see… what have I been enjoying lately?

how about keygen church? keygen church is not at all my usual music taste but I realized how good it was the other day. they worked on the ultrakill soundtrack so of course they’re good. you should play ultrakill, by the way. it’s got some amazing music, a WONDERFUL community, really good gameplay and really good secrets to find.

Great work on your first cosmic.voyage post!

I hope Case and Bulk make it all the way to Orion XVII with their VNTEK transmitter intact!

Wandering around in the small net, I sometimes forget that people do actually use windows 😋

Cosmic.voyage is a cool place. I myself got sucked reading away for quite some time.

Have fun!

I wish I didn’t use windows but I don’t feel like moving everything over to linux, and besides, I game a lot. and while gaming on linux is pretty good these days, it’s not as good as windows. and on all my not-main devices, I do use linux.
