Writing more

~beefox

In my attempt to write more i have been trying to post blog posts to my site more, recently i did one about the small web (which i plan to do more of) and just today did one about peoples opinions on modern minecraft (and how the anwser to their complaints is usually just don't play modern minecraft you can play old versions)

I think its really helping me even if its not very prose heavy

I also want to write more, but I am not sure that anything I have to say is worth writing for the public. I am also aware that most of my opinions are based on very limited knowledge, and any "insights" I might have are also probably not that insightful and they are just common knowledge, or just personal opinion I wouldn't want to tout as the truth, even though to me, it is as true as it gets.

And then I am also concerned with developing my "voice" so that my writings are not mere ramblings but that they abide to certain personal aesthetic standards, in other words, I care about the form as much as the content.

Of course, I would need to write more in order to develop a voice and get some practice in structuring my thoughts. Kind of a chicken-and-egg situation.

I'll add you to my rss feed as well!

I also want to write more, but I am not sure that anything I have to say is worth writing for the public.

I used to feel the same, especially about my fiction, but eventually I got angry enough at myself and the fear I felt that I learned to say four magic words:

THE PUBLIC BE DAMNED

People will do as they please. They will either read what you write or not. They will either like what you read or not. None of that is within your control, so it's not your problem.

Your problem is you. The only questions you should be asking yourself are these:

1. What do you want?

2. What will you do to get what you want?

Do you want to write? Then write. If you want to put it online, then do it. Don't worry about the readers. They don't matter nearly as much as some of them think they do.
