Midnight Pub

Mirror

~zampano

While I'm a big fan of minimalism generally, there comes a point where something can be smoothed out to the point of losing anything that makes it unique. I find that the current approach to the Midnight is one such example. Even doing away with replies isn't something that would turn me off, although I don't agree with making dialogue harder. But the lack of _any_ customization (especially a way to instill some kind of dark mode) makes reading the site not very pleasant.

For those who may have enjoyed what I write, I mirror everything on another site, and plan to continue posting there until another more comfortable spot opens up.

I like the site more than your mirrors on Medium and Substack. Those feel too Web 2.0 for me.

I also caught a typo in an Elegy for Cyberpunk:

You can get around much of these, but only but devoting significant time and effort to doing so, and you may often have to do without some aspects of those services.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm on my way back in (have a "come back" post partially done), and am likely going to 86 doing Medium and Substack. At this point I've enjoyed the Midnight and Write.as a lot more, and I agree regarding the "Web 2.0"-ness of the others.

I'm using your theme, but it doesn't work properly for some reason. My entire screen is white with red text.

Weird. Which theme are you using? I've posted a couple :)

The black one. That might not narrow it down if you have more than one dark theme.

Lol, not so much :)

Oof ... yeah, I just tried it, and I get the same thing. Probably an update to how the site's put together that then broke it or something. I'll fiddle with it and then do a new/updated post once I've got it working again.
