Another Alex, welcome to Midnight!
First timer, nice place you've got here. Just got into town, didn't even know this place existed off the main highway. Even saw a gopher on the way in.
Anyways, it's good to be out of the rain. Seems the pace here is just what I need. Think I'll settle in for the long haul and open a tab. Let's start off the night with a white russian, thanks barkeep.
Thanks ~ew, appreciate the links (and the drink). Just finished setting up a VM with a server on my NAS, now to write some ramblings to fill it out.
I hear you with the rain, it had been dry around here for about a month as well. Driest spring we've had in ages. The 2ish inches we got were much welcomed.
Appreciate the welcome ~petpave and ~tracker, feeling at home already. ~bartender, next round is on me!
Having moved from his place at the bar to a more comfortable seat nearer to the fireplace, Tracker looks over at the newcomer and tips his flatcap. "Welcome to the Midnight! I've just arrived recently myself, and the regulars here have been very hospitable. I'm glad you got in out of the rain before it got too bad out there." Turning back to the fireplace, he takes another sip of his tea and smiles in contentment.
Howdy ~alextheguy, welcome to The Midnight!
~bartender? Whatever the newcomer pleases, it's on me. And I like to have just coffee, cream, sugar. Thanks.
Gophers have become a bit rare these days, but from here, there are a number of (invisible?) little doors into gopher universe. I had not visited gopher land before I came across gemini space, but I have started a few experiments. Even with finger :) Our mate tobykurien has a nice collection of tools to assist in self hosting these strange creatures ... let's see if I find that really quick ...
gemini://tobykurien.com/articles/2022-10-08-simpler-linux-selfhosting.gmiSee this stuff. So, if you want to play with computers ... if not, life can go on without those.
Rain. Be grateful that it does rain on your window sill. No rain in sight around here since 2 months or so, which is no good for spring/early summer.
Other than that: I'm always curious about where others have been, what strange lands they have traveled ...
Cheers!
