Midnight Pub

A quick stopover, a quick reset

Howdy, a coffee if you please. No need to make it fresh, whatever's sitting around'll do just fine. Can't stay very long, just needed to get out for a few. You ever get the thing where you're staring at a task, a problem, for so long it doesn't look like anything anymore? Nothing more than a maze on the back of the kids' menu, but I can't even make the boundary lines out, let alone distinguish path from barrier. Gets to be you fill a day with hours like that, a week with days like that, and now you've genuinely got a problem, a task, ahead of you.

I submitted my book chapter on Saturday, right at the deadline, but long overdue. By the end, I hated what I made and just wanted it off my table, so off it went. Could be I'll feel more charitable about it when it comes back for revision, but for now it's a little extra lung capacity having it gone, if not done.

Apologies for the solemnity! Just getting out got me reflective, but I don't need to completely offload that on you kind folks. I'll make it a point to swing by here more frequently, and when I have lighter topics on my mind. The coffee hit the spot, thank you, but I should really keep it at one and head back to my maze. Until next time.

Are you one of those people that finishes one task at a time, and tells yourself not to start a new one before you finish the last, creating extra stress?

Yeah I was too. Now I just work chaotically on several different things, pushing them maybe one step at a time often with no changes for weeks/months at a time. But they move forward, slowly, but forward
