Baking!

~beefox

Did some baking today, some choc chip cookies and lemon butter cake. all gluten free! I'm very proud of it because i struggle with such stuff (and my body isn't all too happy with me afterwards).

These foods are going to a picnic with my polycule. What kind of stuff do you all like to make dear patrons of this fine establishment?

On Christmas Eve, I made a Black Forest gateau from scratch, and it was so nice. Cooking is more up my alley (as there are no specific rules and measurements that one has to follow, lest he wishes to make something DISGUSTING), so I am fond of making lots of Cuban dishes. My favourite is carne con papas :-D

Curd Rice

It's simple. Just take a nice bowl of lukewarm rice. Then you take the curd (usually each household in India has its own strain of bacteria that the curd is made of that changes the taste or texture). I like it best when the curd is cold but not ice cold. Then you add the curd to the rice, constantly mixing until you reach the desired consistency, for me I usually like it to be a bit like porridge consistency. Then you add whatever side dish you like - Pickle, curry, veggies, chips really anything. The great thing about curd rice is that it is extremely versatile and when you get a combo right it is supremely satisfying. You may now enjoy your Curd Rice :).

I'm suddenly craving a hot dog. Strictly speaking, it is a Korean corn dog, not an American hot dog.

It's freezing cold here because of the strongest cold wave. Even though Christmas is approaching, there aren't many people walking around, let alone caroling, so it's going to be hard to fill the Salvation Army's charity pot.

The wind is blowing so hard I can't move from the house, and wearing fuzzy socks even indoors. In Korea, people don't usually wear shoes or even socks indoors. But while I was looking out the window, suddenly I think someone is whispering "hot dogs" in my ear. I remember when I was a kid and it was this cold, I used to coax my mom into eating hot dogs.

~bartender, hot choco, tall size, please. No hot dogs, so hot choco instead...
