Whose side are they on?

~monpetit

It's often hard to understand the comments under the news, but when I see one that's particularly angry about policies that are disadvantageous to the rich, and I see so many people agreeing with it, it makes me feel sad, not to mention pathetic.

As far as I know, less than 10 percent of the people who are outraged by policies that impose inheritance taxes and gift taxes on the wealthy have to pay the taxes themselves. People are worried about the rich who are the victims, even though they are the potential beneficiaries of this taxation policy. And they say it's not fair. They say it's going to make our society sick and make us a poorer country.

Is it because even though their situation is poor, their hearts are rich? Hey, look, the taxes collected from the rich are being used for things you need! If they don't pay taxes, you don't get your share! You have to remember whose side you're on.

its the lie of the capitalist dream. the idea that you *will* be rich, so if you agree to these taxes they will effect you. but not only that, but a lot of money goes into misinformation on how these taxes work to scare people into thinking they will have to pay them

Most people believe they are not poor but simply temporarily down on their luck rich people. It is ok that they believe this, hope is not a bad thing no matter how irrational.
