Midnight Pub

A late night

~leeksoup

I'm in my living room. It's late, it's dark. The lantern candle on the balcony is lit. I sit with my guitar and bass, trying to fiddle around with them. But I need to learn. I've got way, way far to go on both of these instruments. I barely even know things to play for the bass at all, I just pluck around at whatever. I'd like to gather up a collection of things to know how to play, to build my vocabulary on this thing.

Also, I like playing in the dark. The aesthetic of that is somehow incredibly pleasing. It's me, it's my instrument, and the world is standing back for a while.

Stop the time. Stop the moment. Be like Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's. Plug the note outside of the dark. Be light candle all over the freets, and be free...

Instruments conceal.

A candle over the frets. Light on the touch, quick to move on, but the sound it makes in doing so is full of inner fire, of soul.
