Midnight Pub

Greetings

~plato

Hello all. I was ambling my way home after a beer or two, and happened to glance down the alleyway and saw the sign for the Midnight Pub. I strolled up, but was not sure whether to enter. I waited outside for a bit listening to some of the conversations. What I heard made me think it was my kind of place - so here I am.

First off, a pint for anyone in tonight 😁

A little about me ...

I am in my 7th decade and live in the UK. I collect clocks, barometers and 78rpm records. I am particularly fond of trad jazz and big band music. I am, for my sins, a retired academic - a philosopher by trade. However, I didn't go to university until my early 30s. Before that I did various other things.

Anyway, I am very pleased to be here. I'm just going to pull a stool up to the bar and enjoy my Guinness.

OH MY GOD. another trad jazz enjoyer??? hell yeah hell yeah!!!!! i am so very fond of old tunes, even going back to the 1910s (ada jones and billy murray made some wonderful records together), though that's more music-hall type stuff. i should love to talk with you about such things, it's so lovely to know that other people like myself are out there.

i have here a page on my website where I transcribe and archive the lyrics to a lot of old tunes....most of them i can hardly find traces of on-line!

Always good to welcome famed philosophers into our midst. Pull up a stool, or a chair, and be well. And yeah, love that vinyl.

Welcome. I should've said it before you replied to my post. If you need vinyls from the US, I ship them out all the time.
