On things this week

~voxparlour25

This is just a rundown of my week.

It was mainly productive at work. As with all corpos now we're being targeted on how we can get our teams to use AI more, so as a senior manager I'm stuck between really disliking generative AI and having to set an approach for using it. Anyway, I'm a "the enemy you know" kind of guy so I've been making modules that should save a tonne of time on menial garbage.

We're probably all getting made redundant when this big buyout goes through anyway. Fuck corpos.

Realising now my week has been pretty uneventful. My mum was excited that Tabletop Gaming magazine gave me latest TTRPG a Must Play and a double-page spread. My dad isn't happy I'm getting married in just over a week and only having two witnesses there - nobody else (anxiety, depression and undiagnosed autism makes the thought of having a wedding at all a nightmare).

Right now I'm having a home-brewed coffee and watching Clarissa Explains It All with my cats. Her room is dope.

Congratulations on your wedding from a fellow you shall never meet!!

I second what drmollytov says about the wedding. It is such a special day, no? Traditional Western weddings are very much about exuberance and thrill and indulgence these days, so it's nice when people settle for simple ceremonies. I wish you and your partner the sweetest of lives together.

And regarding AI, oh man! My university is allowing students to use it so long as they credit it, but even so, I think it's a blight upon an academic environment. We've known for a good couple of years now just how incorrect an AI can be, and in essays and dissertations, false information is just dreadful. Given that I'm to enter a creative field in the future, I know it shall play a part in my career someday, but I'm too afraid to face such an idea just yet.

From a random Internet stranger: Good on you for having the wedding you want/that works for you. I caved to peer pressure and had the Traditional Wedding(TM) my mom and grandmother wanted to attend, not the wedding I wanted to have.

I don't regret one second of the marriage, but I do regret not telling them "no" and going the justice and two witnesses route.

May your married life support you both in every way.
