calm

~fallenriver

A warm embrace, from which all emotions flourish,
The strings of your heart in a beautiful symphony,
Why would the song pick up the pace,
When everything is so calm?

Through the silent hands of time that dictate your fate,
And your own volition which knows only so many steps ahead,
The calm will give way to the tempest that crumbles you,
And to the waves that devours you whole.

A calm song, A car ride without a word spoken,
The subtle waves crashing onto the shore,
Inevitably corroding the foundation,
The silent surrendering.

For when the sun goes down, and the wind picks up,
When your companions seek shelter without you,
You will feel only one true desire,
And that will be to feel calm.

Lights dimmed from overhead passing by,

like stars flickering in the night.

As the road rumbles your spine, rocking you

To a blissful slumber, on leather seats.

Sinking beneath the waves in cold embrace,

We try to keep ourselves afloat.

Seeking the eye of the storm, silent and deadly

For a breath; a calm, a rest between.
