touch grass

~dragfyre

not much to say today. just sort of enjoying some nice weather and chilling after a busy week.

I managed to spend some time close to nature this week. it's been a while. there's definitely a healing element in nature that brings some kind of weird joy. be somewhere really green, get dopamine, or something like that. they say that we should all go out and touch grass and all I can do is agree with them. please do go out and touch grass. best advice I've ever read online, even if it comes from a 12-year-old playing Overwatch.

I wanna be one of these folks who spends his last days in a garden. it's not just the green all around you and the dirt in your fingers, although I've heard tell that there's something in the soil that lifts your mood when you're messing about in the garden. I think it's also the feeling of caring, or showing care for something, and seeing the results of that care. caring is natural for people, i think. but sometimes you also want to feel the satisfaction of seeing your care make a difference. sometimes you don't get that. plant a seed and wait 20 years for it to grow, or raise children and wait 40 for them to finally show gratitude.

or maybe I'll just go touch some grass.

I always find it a bit weird that someone would say "touch grass", I guess I do this every day, I forget (I really can't believe it, in fact) that there are people who don't.
