Smolnet Directory Week

~dragfyre

so i wrote before about Small Web July—an initiative meant to help people reduce their time spent on the corporate web.

small world small web

and the conclusion of that post was that if this kind of space—the smallnet, as opposed to the big corporate web—means something to you, then:

enjoy this space and help it grow, naturally and with sincerity.

one thing that i've been doing this month is to try and search out interesting gemini capsules to fill up the CDG:

Collaborative Directory of Geminispace

it's nice and easy to do, and the site also automatically removes links that are no longer responding, so you can be sure that every link in the directory is live.

there are other, similar sites for different smolnet protocols. for example, The Gopher Lawn is a directory of gopher holes that you can submit capsules to:

The Gopher Lawn

And the creators of the spartan and scroll protocols have short lists of sites that support those protocols as well:

Spartan sites
Scroll sites

The creators of the nex protocol also have a page that's meant for a directory, but it seems to be partly offline (at least the part that lists other servers):

Nightfall Express

...and I'm sure that there are several directories of HTTP- and HTTPS- based smolweb sites.

anyway, i've buried the lead here, but here's a little suggestion or invitation to you all: why not spend the last week of July observing Smolnet Directory Week with me? to play, all you have to do is decide on or discover a few good sites and submit them to one of the directories above, or even to one that's not listed here. you could even add them to a bookmarks page on your very own capsule, and feel free to write about what you've added on your blog/gemlog/phlog/..., too. after one week, there should be a lot more content for everyone to discover.
