sometimes, you come across a song that really pulls on your heartstrings. this may be because of the lyrics, which echo of events that you've been through. a heartbreak, some kind of grief, or a happiness and a voice of hope. other times, however, a song moves you without you understanding a single word of it.

there is knowledge, though unintelligible to a non-speaker, in the sentences of a foreign language. the words are said with conviction, though it is not always apparent where one word ends and the other begins. you can hear that a singer is putting their heart into a song, can even guess at the particular feelings they are trying to portray. a language to carry meaning beyond feelings. for me, a prime example of this is 壊レタ世界ノ歌 from the NieR:Automata soundtrack. literally translated as "Song of a Broken World", it evokes so many feelings in me. one thing that I should add to this is that, since this is from a soundtrack of a game I've played, I have a general idea of what the song should be about. however, even after forgetting the exact plot point this song appears in the game, I can *feel* what the song is telling.

I think what I'm trying to get to is that humans are able to convey so much more than meaning through sheer tone of voice. it is the kind of thing that would be lost to you if you were to read the Japanese lyrics of the song, which would only leave you confused without a translator.
