Enjoy!
A wise man once told me to let the universe take me down whatever path it takes me. Sometimes, I worry too much about the future, and less about the present. So, in June, I did just that - stayed focus on the present, and let the universe just guide me wherever.
Well. In June, it guided me to the bookstore I almost always frequent, where a young man asked for my number. We spent the past few months talking on and off. We both struggle with our mental health, which meant we'd sometimes go weeks without talking, only for me or him to send a quick little message that spiraled into conversations. This Friday was our first date, and it was wonderful. Not quite what I expected it to be - a movie date that led to something very sweet and lovely. A part of me - the part that still, for some reason, abides by old school rules of courting - thought that may have been too fast. Maybe he only wanted a quickie, or was bored that day. But then... he wouldn't still be responding to my messages even after, right? And he wouldn't have wanted to randomly hang out on Saturday, even though he's usually at work until 9, right?
I often remind myself that I overthink a LOT. I was overthinking our date, whether to ask him out or not, and it went beautifully. Today, I kind of want to invite him over to my house for a nice dinner and some cuddles. The weather is looking dire (tornado warnings issued in my neck of the woods! We haven't had those in nearly two decades!) and it's possible it may happen on Thursday instead, but that little voice of Anxiety is telling me that This Is It. This will be the message that finally drives him nuts, even though the last one I sent was last night wishing him a safe drive home, and that he never found my messaging him annoying (to him, it shows that I genuinely care for him). Whoever told me double-texting could kill a developing relationship needs to piss off. It's crazy how many rules there are to dating that make me wonder how ANYONE could possibly successfully date just be trying to follow any of them!
I'm happy, though. I haven't been this happy in awhile! I get more annoyed with my overthinking, and I end up ignoring it altogether, which is quite an impressive feat compared to a year ago. We're still in the early stages of dating that I'm not entirely sure if we're a couple just yet. I wonder if inviting him could be seen as too fast, but there's genuinely not much else to do today (hence why it's likely to be pushed to Thursday) and he seems so overworked and exhausted that maybe dinner and cuddles will be fine. I'd like to be a couple soon, and maybe today we can have a nice conversation about it this week. Who knows! Guess the only way to find out is to ask and see what happens!
