Nice post; to me, this is learning on a societal, global level. People are learning together that these silos are abusive and exploit their users' data. So they move on in search of a better option.

Yes, the New Boss extradites the Old Boss, history repeats without rhyming, amnesia ebbs and flows through the public mind(s), and Mega Co's pop their own economic bubbles, only for everyone to realize we were all just fine to start with.
