new garden!

~iazia

i finally planted a few oleander plants and some lambada. i'm hoping they take root, but i still have my receipt in case i need to exchange them for new ones. as of right now, i'm solely focus on plants, not a lawn, but i won't lie, the dirt in the yard looks jarring compared to the plants. it's been so long since i've had to garden, and i need to take my mind off things somehow. i can only do so much housework.

you know, barkeep, it's been one year since the release of the infamous barbenheimer double feature, and i feel like it's fine to say that barbie was a cutesy little film, and oppenheimer was decent. i was far more intrigued with how exactly it spread the way it did, and how we're not likely to get such an organic movement as we did with this pairing. i don't know why, but tumblr was having a really interesting moment in late 2022 regarding cinema-related memes. barbenheimer and goncharov, mostly. insane how tumblr still has such a solid grip on online culture when it feels like it's still on the verge of dying out.

aaaaaaand now my cat is trying to claw her way outside again.

I hope your plants grow healthy and lush! I have also been focusing on planting plants, especially now that the rainy season has started! My plan is to fill every corner with as many plants and fruit trees as possible; it's a somewhat large area that I have to cover, thankfully, I have a good many plants that do very well on their own. I do need to buy some fruit trees, I have long wanted to get some coconut palms.

I do have a bit of a lawn, just a small grassy space which is the areas were we walk and spend the day, so they have to be clear, the cats also don't like overgrown weeds, especially in the rainy season! But the rest of the area, while it also has to be weed-whacked, is destined to be filled with as many plants as possible, so that I don't have to be periodically spending so much energy (and gasoline!) removing the weeds.

Later, I'll get rabbits to roam around, and some more currants too.

Actually, I have a lot of work to do in the garden, too much to be spending most of my time reading about lisp and classical greek.

I never used tumblr, for some reason, I associate it with furries. Not that I have anything against them, they seem a lovely kind, but I am not interested in fur.

Thank you! And likewise. Gardens are such a soothing project to work on, and it's helped me so much to deal with my anxiety, for the most part. I'm hoping to plant some pomegranate and fig trees at the corners since I used to have one at my old house. My cat would love to climb up the one tree we have, even with her harness on!

I've recently been considering returning to Tumblr. Nothing on the Fediverse or the Freeweb/Freenet seems to really replace it. Tumblr always did have its fingers on the pulse of things, didn't it?

There really isn't anything like it. Twitter was where so many people fled to after 2018, but in so many ways it's worse than what Tumblr was like. It takes a lot to get used to the new layout of the place, but the userbase is still there.
