Midnight Pub

and now nature takes its course

~iazia

i've been eaten alive by so many mosquitos. even with all the repellant, i keep getting nipped. the positives is that i've seen more butterflies and dragonflies floating around my yard now - and hummingbirds! my cat stares from the window, desperate to eat one, but i'm keeping her locked up for now. at least until i can find a harness big enough to fit her.

ah, august. the sundays of summer.

On the homefront we've noticed my wife is somehow yummier than I to those bloodthirsties.

I would love to know the process in deciding whose blood is tastier to mosquitos. My mother and my uncles seem immune to them, and I'm collecting them like game cards 😂

One thing is certain: it has to make more sense than the "process" by which the United States selects its blood-sucking leaders....

Yupp.

~bartender? A jar of that home made lemonade, please. And a small craft beer. I'll join ~iazia outside on the terrace. Mossies and all :)

Howdy ~iazia!

Mossies normally don't like my odor, but in the last few days, they seem to be somewhat desperate :) We had barbeque twice this week. Outside of course. With all the nature :) Mossies, bats, birds, cats, neighbor's dog ... Unfortunately I'm not good any more at staying up late. But a starry sky is good for my soul. And there is again a chance to see aurora at our not so northerly latitude in the night from Saturday to Sunday. I have watched red aurora a few weeks back --- for the first time in my not so short life. :)

Cheers!

Sadly, we won't be seeing much of the auroras down here in Texas. What we do get, though, is some incredible sunsets around this time of year. The clouds are larger than usual from passing storms, and something about the way the sunlight hits just makes it damn majestic. Almost like a painting come to life. The sunsets are just different in the SW, I guess!

Hope the auroras look extra incredible for you, though. I'd like to see them once in my life too.

Well, for a long time I thought that aurora is not seen at 48° North in Central Europe. But it happens. Currently the solar cycle is quite active, there was a X9.0 flare (that's a big one!) a few days ago. But the current cloud deck will sort this out for me this time.

Short version: You just never know, keep looking. Rainbows, sun dogs, halos around the sun and the moon, lightning, big fat fast moving clouds, wind gusts that make your house or car shiver ... whatever. Nature is full of incredible shows on display ...
