Geocities [mentioned in the article] sorta exist in the form of 'Neocities', right? Though it is a pale shadow of the former. Enshittification [Coined by Cory Doctrow] has happened to the internet.

Cory Doctorow is one of my favorite writers, and probably the only Canadian writer who understands IT.

GeoCities was around in the early 90s, NeoCities (I think) has been around since 2012. They didn't exist simultaneously; GeoCities closed years earlier.

Of course, we'd like to have the same audience here (we have the resources), and we're more than serious about it.

But there aren't many registrations yet on http://web1.0hosting.net/
