Midnight Pub

winter is coming, or something like that

~rav3ndust

hello, pub! it has been quite awhile since i've stepped in for a drink. ~bartender, just a beer? nothing too crazy today.

it's been quite the busy last little while since i've been in the pub. been working on a lot of new things, both in the digital space and in the physical space. been building a new chicken coop for our new little chicken friends (we have six golden laced wyandottes now) so they can move into it when they're ready, and getting things ready for the colder season to really kick into gear. wife and i both have had some appointments over the last few months and glad those are over with!

got some new projects i've been working on coming over the horizon, and excited to share them with more folks when they're finished up and ready (all FOSS), as well as some new music. been playing some games as well that i've slept on, with my favorite lately being *stardew valley*, a cozy little indie game i had heard of for ages but only just around to playing over the last little while.

hope all of you are doing great! i hope to get back into writing here again finally now that some things are not so busy. wishing everyone a great week, and look forward to the next time i step into the pub for a drink! maybe some whiskey this weekend? or eggnog, since it's almost that time!

thanks again, ~bartender, and see you all next time!

Hi there, rav3ndust. Nice to see you around.

~bartender... give me a hot water-chocolate... and throw in a drop of brandy for good measure.

A chicken coop, huh? Sounds nice. I got plenty of work in my hands in the days ahead, but I have been thinking too of making some kind of structure to keep the chickens warm. They all like to roost on trees, so it'll be a bit difficult just to get them to sleep in the coop (if I get around to making it, that is) in the first place!

You got me thinking, indeed. I've seen coops usually made out of wood. Wood is costly where I live, but if I make a good structure out of bamboo, I can cover it up with planks just enough to get it covered and cozy... It needs to be big enough for them all to *want* to sleep there... If I manage to get it done, they may even want to lay their eggs in there. The roof is another consideration, I have to make the whole thing sturdy enough that I won't need to be fixing it every two months. I am in the process of building the "lab", which is another structure where the roof has been a recurring problem....

Oh well, I talked a lot about myself, but still, it's nice to see other people's projects and get inspiration from them! At least, that's what motivates me to get moving!

Have a nice rest-of-autumn and a cozy winter.

~bartender, more chocolate, please, same treatment.

Careful with Stardew Valley, my friend. When me and my boyfriend first got it at christmas, we played every night and were up until 3 AM ha ha. We got addicted by this pixelated world.

I too am looking forward to eggnog season. I feel like for me, though, eggnog season starts at Thanksgiving (inclusive -- eggnog /on/ Thanksgiving is not "early"). Finally bought a cheaper whiskey for making Old Fashioneds, and am looking forward to putting it in eggnog.
