.. we're all alone ..

~torpor

.. like, really alone. nothing else out there as important as human life, and its protection of the planet, and yet we seem so ignorant of it all .. we have a universe of emptiness and near-infinite resources (given a few rockets) .. and yet here we are, blowing ourselves to smithereens over and over again, instead of just giving it all up and ganging together to move our industrial base into the asteroid belt .. I mean I'd be okay with asking the skygods to drop me a new iPhone, and within seconds down it floats .. it could even use the parachute as a nice recovery/disaster shelter, if we could skygod enough of them at once .. I mean, I'm pretty sure the whole thing can be set up to run on automatic, with enough robots .. and then we never have to worry about need or hunger or greed again .. unless of course its on some bumfuck outer rim planet/obloid structure glistening with refugee starships that might, one day, be all that's left of humanity after all. I wonder if they'll come back?

Well, if humanity remains in its current trajectory we may see then end of the human species as we know it. We are the most destructive things on the planet, one just has to look at what an alarming rate our forests worldwide are disappearing, how mindboggling disgustingly filthy our oceans are, etc. If space aliens came here they would look around and run fast for their spaceship. Something has to give, something has to turn it around for the better.
