Wow, 60k? Impressive stuff. I should look into my personal NaNoWriMo, obviously a bit delayed. In my head, I've toyed with the idea of writing a novel. What do you do with your writings when you are done?
I'd like a White Lady, please, and a bit of cream for Smudge.
I know we haven't been around in a while. Things got a bit nuts at the old day job, and then I decided it was a good idea to get involved in National Novel Writing Month. Now I'm almost 60,000 words into a draft for a novel and I could use a drink before I get back to it.

Thanks. I've probably got another 40-60K to go. Plus an initial revision to weed out the typos, then edits after my wife reads it, then probably another revision.
If you've got a story you want told, you should definitely write it. If you don't, who will?
I've published two novels with a small press back in the mid-2010s. The first sold modestly well, and hit number 1 on Amazon's cyberpunk list a few times, but the other was something of a bomb.
I might try to go with a major this time around. Either that, or just hire my own editor and cover artist and go full indie. I suspect that either way I'd have to do my own marketing (ick).
Starbreaker! I've been wondering if you'd find the door of the new location of the Midnight! It's been a while -- glad to see Smudge around as well. Looks like Snickers' got company. Wait, you've literally written a 60k word novel since the last time we spoke? Now I really need to reconsider what I'm doing with my free time! You, sir, are very productive. White Lady on the house, you've earned it. Can't wait to read what you've created!
Man, I needed that. Thanks. (leaves a tip covering the cost of the drink)
Yes, it has indeed been a while. Or at least a few months. I recall seeing Smudge chase Snickers around the bar before; Snickers is one of the other patrons' dogs, right?
Yeah, I'm 60,000 words into a new novel. I probably have another 60,000 to go before the draft's done, though, but if I can keep doing 1,500-2,000 words a night it will only take a couple of months.
Don't be too quick to reconsider the way you spend your leisure time; many people would insist that I'm wasting my time since it is unlikely that I will get to publish via traditional channels or sell many copies of I go indie.
Still, it's kind of you to say you'd like to read it. I suppose I could share an excerpt. I was also thinking of making web novels out of a couple of older novels of mine that are now out of print now that the rights to both have reverted to me, but I'll be discreet about mentioning them here since the other patrons aren't here for a hard sell.
