Midnight Pub

a few moments of rest

~inquiry

Busy several days: home acquisition, various purchases, moved a bunch of shit, patted Reorganization on the back.

On the "maybe there is a God in heaven" side of things, we managed to win $500 at the casino in town last night.

Most of today's moving was in a persistent drizzle: Annoying, yet it also provided some welcome cooling.

And, yes, towel[l]ing played a role, just like in this pub perched upon the moment between yesterday and tomorrow!

congrats on your winnings, and on your house ventures. I too, one day, perchance, seek to dream, to be the sole proprietor, of the domicile that I would be living in.

As time goes on, this dream slips away. Oh sure, new stuff is being built, but demand remains the same. I'm looking into housing associations at the moment as the ultimate fallback. That or 3D printing takes everyone by storm and bursts this horrible bubble

Thanks!

Kind of miraculously, we managed a $230 win a couple nights ago.

See, we used to play more.. and then we got busy with other things.. then COVID happened... so the casino's infinite wisdom had them spotting my wife $115 per week in March to coax us back, and well, a little luck with such a donation and quitting ahead is "all" it takes....

(FWIW, that casino is visible from the front window of our original domicile in this area - in fact, one of the reasons I wanted the place (see also: "How cool is it to have a casino in the front window? Huh? Huh?!!").)

You write way too well for it not to happen. ;-)

I wasn't super able to imagine having the resources to do such when I was younger. But staying somewhat conservative for a couple decades made it possible despite an expensive divorce along the way.

I've kind of clung to an image of a bucket in need of both input and the stoppage of unnecessary leakage to fill.

wow. Could she just... take the money every week and not gamble it?

Thanks, this gives me hope. It might take me some time, but I'll get there

No. You can only keep winnings on it. So you keep track of what your machine pushes were worth, and when you hit what they gave you, you know the rest is yours (assuming there is a "the rest"... :-) ).

Based on what I've read of you and our interactions, if you don't get there there's something seriously wrong with your locale... or your wound up with inexplicable - and hopefully not insurmountable... - for-shit luck along the way.

Bit of both!
