Winter Languor

~shufei

It is snowing mightily this year, and I’ve been under it without pause. Literally; I’m snowed in on a mountain until spring. Last winter I ate so many snowcones. Strawberry, raspberry, mint, pear juices on top. I imagined myself the yeti from Monsters, Inc. This year I shudder to look at snow. Such are the ridiculous vacillations of the human heart.

I crave the best drink on the planet to-day, and the hardest to make properly. Eggcream! Merely milk, chocolate syrup, and soda water. Like life, it sounds so simple. A mere chocolate milk, you say. Nyet! There is an alchemy to eggcream. It must transcend its ingredients, luxuriate in textures, froth into a mound to shame any tap ale. Too much soda, and it becomes thin to taste, with no head. Too much milk, and it flattens out. Too much chocolate and it… well, you can never have enough chocolate. But it can be done. If done well, eggcream will soothe any soul.

Hello ~shufei! What a nice surprise to see you here!

I'm always reading your posts about winter and the raspberry Pi thingie and what not! On this side of the Pub there is little snow, but there is a gale wind, so standing outside is not what you want for more than two minutes. Allthough, I must say, there were a few minutes of bright sunshine this morning, too.

~bartender? you better get more of that famous eggcream prepared. I'd like to try a bit of that, too. Thanks.

Cheers, shufei, and welcome!

The only good thing about snow is when your inside you can have some fine soup. Hot cocao, even. But yeah, you can't even stand outside and look at the scenary without feeling cold, which is a shame because sometimes the outside world looks so pretty with snow...

Also I've never heard of eggcream, but it seems pretty fun to make!

I've known about eggcreams for a while, but I've never tried one. I did enjoy the bit in "Into The Spiderverse" where as part of his introduction, Spider-Man Noir says, "I like to drink eggcreams, and I like to fight Nazis. A lot."
