If you want to really get weird with Primus, I just recently found out they did a sort-of-cover album of the songs from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate factory. It's hilariously bizarre.

indeed! also, fun fact for those that might not know a ton about Primus - they did the theme song for South Park!

Nice!

Missing in Jerry was a racecar driver video is intense . Similar moshing in Another State of Mind documentary. Talking 80s punk. Following the first tour of Social Distortion. Incredible doc

great tunes! I'll add a few as well from my 'frequently played' if you want to check them out:

Some of these names remind me of Coheed and Cambria. Love The Suffering. I need to listen to that. I will check some of these tracks too! :)

Coheed and Cambria are a favorite of mine - big fan of "welcome home" - was one of the songs that had one of those iconic guitar riffs that is instantly recognizable.

The next tune *clearly* needs to be "Smoke On the Water".... ;-)

only Deep Purple song I am familiar with. Something akin to beanbag chairs, lava lamps, Ted Nugent "Stranglehold" and others - most of this setting is "stolen" from Dazed and Confused, and other 70s shows that were not That 70s Show. I had a beanbag chair and it exploded. I have Stranglehold on my phone. My lava lamp is long-since exploded again a wall in South County after years of shroom gazing and multi-dimensional visions (20+ years ago).

so there's a big, fluffed up, long winded reply for ya ;)

I grew up in those times, and had none of that. Couldn't afford it. Well, maybe could have, but only at the expense of much more important things like Beatles and Pink Floyd albums, or the all important cannabis pipe/screens....

(Oh, the muted, serious glory of the "head shops" of those times....)

Come to think of it, I never watched "That 70s Show". I'll have to dig around and see what I missed out on. I can't remember why I didn't, but one theory is I was there, so why?

How *dare* you taunt me while I'm struggling to put more than three sentences together consecutively!

If you watch it, keep in mind there is also now a 'follow-up' of sorts to that one called 'That 90s Show' that keeps up with the same characters 20 years later. I just finished the first few episodes of it the other night.

Interesting. I've often considered the 90s a sort of 70s for a different generation, especially in the popular music department.

I would agree with this assessment. Sometimes, there is a bit of a cultural shift that comes between generations, and especially with the 90s area of alternative rock (some call it "grunge", but I detest that term) and associated counter-culture, it was certainly a time distinctly its own.

The term 'grunge' never bothered me, but I can start feeling bothered by any term that winds up overused to the point of meaninglessness, and I think that one might have come close. :-)

Weird. I can't even remember whether I had a mobile phone back then. Can't remember the first one I had. But I do remember one that flipped open to reveal a screen on the top flap, and a full - but tiny - keyboard on the bottom flap.

Pretty sure I have it somewhere. Chances of still possessing the likely proprietary charger are likely zero, though. Dang, because seeing what's on it might be fun.
