welp

i finally did it

i got my first dui

stupidly decided to drink

and drive

and speed

and proceed to get arrested

spent the weekend in jail

when i should have been on the coast

for my fiance's memorial

seeing our family

her mom

and grandparents

her sister

and her cousins

stupid stupid of me

some of you can drink

not this wolf

i take the bottle and wont let it go

now i've just complicated my already

COMPLICATED

life

oh well

just another reason

to turn it around

i have to now

and if i drink

i go back to jail

no ifs ands or buts about it

so now sobriety is mandatory

(as if it wasn't before)

but even more so now

i saw my dog get taken to a shelter

(i got him back, but it was traumatizing

to him and me)

and i almost lost my car

and the last of what i DO have

never again

it's howl or die

and i choose to keep

i appreciate the support

it's been a hard time

i was just on the cusp

of realization

i just needed an extra

P U S H

to finally make things click

i knew before that i shouldn't drink

but it wasn't a fully commited

CAN'T DRINK

i see that now

i can't lose my pup

or my freedom

so it's sobriety

or

REALLY LOSING IT ALL

i chose sobriety this time

and for all time

it's time to make right on the promise

i made her

i swore on her memory

i wouldn't ever

drink again

and i did

for three fucking years

i can't dishonor her memory like that

anymore

it's time to make things right

and to eventually help those

that need help too
