Midnight Pub

Dining at the Pub

~tlf

Pub food has improved dramatically where I come from. Usually better than fast food and more convenient than a restaurant.

Today I ate at home. Everything is packed into boxes except for some couscous, tins of chickpeas, blackbeans and chopped tomatoes. It turned out okay with some coriander, oregano and toasted cumin.

What are you looking forward to ordering or cooking this week?

I haven’t been eating well lately. I lost about ≈10 kg last 6 months. Have no idea what’s the cause. I just miss my old appetite and my body that looked a lot better back then.

10kg is a lot. And it can be so hard to find the root cause. I'm no expert but it could be underlying medical condition, digestion, emotional eg stress, heavy metals on the body/Diet, diet/intolerances or something else entirely. Hope you have good professional help either way.

I eat Keto so everything I eat I cook. There are some items I buy that are Keto friendly I have to be careful and make sure to read the nutritious label before I buy it. I just came home from the gym with Keto friendly dark chocolate ice cream Popsicle....I can't wait to try it tomorrow

On that list you made up there all I would be able to eat would be the chickpeas and chopped tomatoes. I like your choice in herbs.

I'm depending on herbs these days since like yourself, I mostly prepare my own food. Great that you're doing that - although doing it all the time does wear me out a little. Nice that there are some compatible keto treats for you too. I tend to only eat 90% cacao chocolate for gut health reasons. Not as nice as the more buttery ones, but long term the benefits are better for me. How long have you been eating keto for?

I have been doing keto for a little over two months and I love it. It is a better way to eat I think and a great way to loose weight. I love dark chocolate and yes it is great for many health reasons as well as the reason you mentioned. I can eat dark chocolate so I am fortunate, the bitter the better I say.

I have the opposite problem; trying to gain weight. But they're not that far apart so I feel I can relate. My metabolism will probably just dial down in my late 40s like my parents :)

just be careful the weight will sneak up on you as you get older, I learned that truth the hard way but don't matter I'm doing something about it now.

Good for you! I'm putting it on in one place ónly lately - nó prizes for guessing where :) I know that crunches and pilates aren't going to work alone so the diet is the next place to look. The reason I'm interested in cooking now is so I can make food i love that satisfies the part of me that wants to eat unhealthily.

I have some bratwurst marinating in barbeque sauce. If the rain lets up tonight I'll throw a couple on the grill.

Although I've already eaten - you're making me hungry again :)

Sorry. You can always eat later, right?

reply

tlf

Ah, you're very kind. I'll either eat later or have one hell of a breakfast tomorrow! Hope you're enjoying it.

I've recently gotten into the habit of always cooking a bit more rice than I need for any given meal, knowing that I'll turn the leftover cooked rice into fried rice in a day or two. Fried rice is delightfully easy - you can pretty much throw in whatever you want - and also really delicious and filling. Have some veggies? Maybe some meat or other protein? Eggs? Eggs are always great in fried rice.

I have some leftover rice from last night, so no doubt fried rice is on the menu in the next day or two.

Very nice idea. As great as cooking is, it's such a relief to be able to put something together quickly too. "Bone apple tea", fungusmungus :)
