Midnight Pub

hello midnight

~dsp

I find myself trying something new, talking to strangers on the internet, again. I look forward to learning more of this community and seeing if maybe I can help out. I work on middleware during the day and play with languages and compilers at night. It's interesting to see so many different groups gathering around certain sets of open protocols and concepts. I don't know about the wider internet as a whole, but it seems like enough people that care are around to carve out a bit of a different approach reusing the same components collaboratively.

Nothing is certain, but the outlook in my eyes is much less bleak than it may have once seemed.

Maybe I'll see you all again, it's nice to meet you all.

Hello, ~dsp/ketsif!

At first I've assumed that you're playing with languages that are natural or constructed, but upon second reading concluded that it's probably about the programming/scripting kind. Is that so?

Midnight is a cozy and welcoming place, so by all means, let's grab a drink and relax by the fireplace.

My ears perk up from my spot in the corner of the bar. "Ĉu iu par--did someone say conlang?"

hello ~sojourner!

Right now I mostly work with computer programming languages, but one day I hope to be able to learn a couple other natural languages, Spanish and Chinese I think but we will see. :-)

I suppose I was a bit vague, I was thinking of communicating and working with computers. So mostly programming/scripting like how people go about solving their problems using computing. In one part different programming languages, maybe leveling up from 'just' text files in fancy notepad. But I also think there's opportunities to change how people more generally interact with the internet or socially network. I think there's at least a few models of ways people are building alternate networks and other open examples of classically proprietary things. Finding new ways to support services in a more affordable way, avoiding most opportunities for absurd profits from your infinite money machines. Trying to run businesses in a healthy way, holistically, etc. ;-)

Cheers!

Welcome. The outlook is always bleak, but it is inevitable that we struggle forward in any case.
