Midnight Poll IV

~rrraksamam

How often do you think about death?

When the time comes, how would you like to go out?

noisydeadlines

I’ve been thinking more about death lately, especially after my dad passed away last year in a very unexpected way (heart attack). These reflections make me care more about my physical and mental health, they are priorities for me now.

I’d like to die during a peaceful sleep.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad

Quite rarely. Second question I refuse to answer.

Quite rarely, I just don't want to die slowly, I prefer a quick death.

> How often do you think about death?

A fair amount, usually in the throes of exasperation over the seeming uselessness of communication with most others due to how quickly misunderstanding (I believe for individuality cursing us private conceptuality contexts atop private meanings of words), which can quickly amplify the loneliness of individuality. But also sometimes during bouts of "same old, same old", especially repetition of frailties like forgetfulness, klutziness, time consuming mistakes, and bodily aches.

> When the time comes, how would you like to go out?

While asleep. I'd rather not witness loved ones' responses.

I just don't want to die now yet or die old and full of regret

Fairly often. I'm not a young man anymore, so I've got to be realistic about such things. If I'm lucky I have another 30-40 years, but given my family history, especially on my father's side, another 10-20 years is more likely.

Also, I had recently come across a post by somebody dying of cancer pouring out his regrets and I couldn't help but wonder what he hoped to accomplish by dwelling on the past because he no longer had a future.

reply

rrraksamam

Perhaps he was seeking closure/ some sort of consolation.

reply

starbreaker

Maybe, but I doubt he'll find it on the internet.

Almost never, but the topic always seems to pop up in my writing. I think being assassinated would be interesting, of which it implies that I've done something so notable that someone would want me dead. But realistically, I want to die from old age, as most would.

reply

rrraksamam

An assassination would be painful

I am reading book written by Lucius Anneasus Seneca. Some chapters are his thoughts about death and dying. So, yes, thought about it. He says it's not important how long you live, but what you have done when you lived.

My cat died a week ago, so it's been common lately.

Otherwise mostly when I was having a bad experience with an antidepressant a couple years ago

reply

I'm sorry

Too often, and hopefully unknowingly.

~bartender, could I get a corpse reviver? rand() number.

reply

rrraksamam

True. When death is certain, people live in fear

reply

Sometimes, I am okay with anything other than dying at the hospital or in a very painful way

reply

winter

Sometimes. More the last few years, as a couple of childhood friends have died relatively young. And I was discussing this with my partner the other night: imploded in a submarine at the bottom of the sea, like those rich boobs, would be perfect. Absolutely painless.

reply

bidgehop

But they also spent more than a day in a really small space with nothing to do other than wait their death
