"The Future" (according to Bill Gates)

~tffb

You know, I really think individuals can be a theme of themselves. That is, be in a position in life, where choices (and choices made from choices) do little more than (re)ensure that they "JUST" are right/justified in their action(s).

Bill Gates. He has a documentary called The Future on Netflix. I see the trailer, and I think: "this movie is about a guy who thinks he's right and does everything to continually think he is right" - albeit "right" about good (decent) things (just not (you know) right about any of them).

He talks climate change, AI, income inequality: Gates being a diligent contributor to all three (and more!), but they are "to be solved" by (guess who?) Bill Gates(!)

Now, other than the nut slap and spit in the face that concept is, I'm not sure what else to make of the documentary.

I almost laughed at the section where the "technologist" (whoever it was) was saying "see, we can make AI, that can make its OWN AI, and a better AI, and a better AI" and knowing full well the AI world is less smoke and mirrors, and simply unscalable, unsustainable, illogical, and effectively a money dash for billionaires (think hot phrases like "NFT" for venture capitalists - that's what "AI" is for billionaires).

Anyway, ~bartender, if I can have another coffee? It's 3 AM (I must be lonely)

Not gonna lie, the future looked more appealing in the 1980's; colorful and emotionally vibrant.

Nowadays the future looks lackluster and unimaginative.

i keep thinking of this thing that I wrote recently - thought interlinking thought interlinking thought

this was in regard to the scene in Blade runner 2049:

Cells interlinked within cells interlinked

Within one stem. And dreadfully distinct

Against the dark, a tall white fountain played.

This passage itself was taken from 'Pale fire'

Ego's definition of 'communication' is "persuade unto brainwashing by any/all means necessary".

I'm having one of those cycles where I find the world I live in increasingly unacceptable. Everything is a grift, and I'm never quite sure if my bosses and the other people making decisions that affect me are in on the grift, or if they're just rubes. And I'm never quite sure which is worse.
