Forgoing social media to be anonymously intimate

~sonam

this idea of being intimate with strangers is very fascinating.

social media has become the antithesis that it was designed for. It shouldn't be named social media as such.

one can never be intimate with 1000s of people. it's far more easier, personal and intimate to talk like this: in intervals. taking a break from constant sharing and instead being intentional about what you are sharing to a select few people, who are anonymous and who are of similar temperaments.

i'm feeling giddy and wistful at the same time. Bartender, please give me absinthe today. I want to drown in these thoughts

Hey, ~sonam. What's your favorite absinthe? I'm fairly new to it, but I've gotten to try a pretty wide variety - none of the really expensive craft ones, none of the cheap artificially colored ones. My current favorite is Vieux Pontarlier. Flavor is what it should be, not too different from Pernod Original Recipie, but the color is fantastic!

It's a perfectly normal liquor, nothing psychoactive in it except for the alcohol. It's usually bottled at 120-140 proof, but you normally dilute it with ice water by 3-5 parts, to about as strong as wine. It has a lovely anise flavor, with other herbs adding depth and complexity. It's great as an apertif, digestif, or nightcap; I should note I ever only drink one glass whenever I have it.

yes yes!

giddy/wistful

This is "the way to be" imo. Also, to write when Bukowski says the words LEAP from the fingertips - no superfluous word churning (speaking for me here)

good to see you back, sonam :)

I can't think of a better state of feeling/mind for writing than "giddy and wistful". I mean, either alone can be powerful. But both together? Oh, to somehow cultivate a permanent state of the both!
