Drinks are on Me

After reading and looking through posts, comments, and responses on this site, I've quickly realized what a special place the Midnight Pub is. I apologize if my first post on here came off as too abrasive in any way, but I'm glad you all could see where I was coming from! Finding this site was like finding an Oasis in the middle of the desert. Or a warm tavern in the middle of a terrible blizzard. The thing about me is that I love interacting with and meeting new people online...it's just that on social media (and the culture surrounding it these days) everyone is strangely aggressive and only really seem to care about numbers and being right all the time. I really did not like being on there like I used to. I would only go on social media not because I particularly enjoyed it, but because of habit! I've been on there for years, it might as well be routine at this point. I stumbled in here jaded and frustrated with modern internet culture.

But this place is very different! Everyone is so polite and seems to know one another, which is really rare to find these days and something I genuinely value. I can see myself sticking around here for a long while. I'm happy to have found a place like the Midnight Pub. With that being said, drinks are on me tonite!

Welcome! I will say, when I first read your username, I thought some ne'er-do-well from the Internet Main Street drunkenly walked in and passed out on the couch. Not that I am qualified to judge them ;)

I'm glad you appreciate the calm here. It has given me a quite some solace in the past couple years since I first saw a flyer for the Midnight on a board in another little establishment called Subreply. I do wish the rest of the internet had the same energy and speed that as here, but you and I both know perfectly well that I wouldn't have learned to appreciate it.

To be honest I can't blame you LOL. It's the name I use for my neocities website and I couldn't rly think of a random user name for this site, so I just went with it. But yes, this site is truly one of a kind. And not a problem! I really look forward to reading more posts and interacting with you all!

Glad to see more patrons in The Midnight, as always. Glad you found it :)

I see what you're saying about modern Internet culture - some of it can seem like a cess pit some of the time. I've avoided nearly all "main" areas of the Large Web for a while (which I think it is aprapo that The Midnight is located "down a dark alley off Main Street"). I just find that most of the interactions on the larger sites (namely social networks) tend to be derogative, abrasive, and sometimes downright insulting. That is, the few interactions that DID occur on the larger sites. I left the last of social media in 2019 (finally deleting my Instagram + Twitter accounts), and I've literally felt better every day ever since.

Hello!! Yeah, I'm currently trying to break away from main social media too. I know I can't stop cold turkey just yet, but hopefully I will get to the point to where I forget to log on at all by finding more quiet and kind places like the Pub. And it's nice to meet you too!!
